PURPOSE
As Istanbul Technical University, we have already started a series of activities to celebrate our 250th year, which we will turn in 2023. The “Motto Competition” is one of the starting points of these activities.
The motto competition is organized to emphasize the importance of the brand value of our University, to draw attention to the prominent strong associations of the ITU brand, and to reveal its distinguishing features and alternative potentials.

SUBJECT
Describing ITU with a concise and forceful motto that aims to reflect ITU’s strong experience and established history spanning 250 years as well as its vision for the future.

PARTICIPATION
- Participation in the competition is open to all and free of charge.
- The mottos participating in the competition must be original mottos that have not previously participated in another competition, received any award or been used in any communication or advertisement campaign. Legal responsibility regarding this issue belongs to the participants.
- Participants can apply to the competition with at most two (2) mottos. The participants are deemed to declare and undertake that the motto submitted to the competition is their original work.
- The mottos must be in Turkish. Care must be taken that they are limited to at most five (5) words, reflect ITU’s identity, and are distinctive and memorable.
- In case multiple contestants participating with the same motto are placed in the rankings, the motto with the prior application date will be taken as basis.
- Mottos that do not comply with the competition rules will not be taken into consideration.
- Applications submitted after the application deadline specified in the competition calendar will not be accepted.
- Participants accept that all their rights will belong to Istanbul Technical University if the mottos they use in the competition are deemed worthy of an award.
- No objections to the organization or results of the competition will be accepted.
- Competition applications are made through the "250 Years Motto Competition" section on the website www.250yil.itu.edu.tr.
- The motto that is awarded at the end of the competition will be treated as if it was taken by Istanbul Technical University with all its copyrights. ITU will have without paying any price all the copyrights under Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works, including using and demonstrating the motto that is awarded and deemed worthy of exhibition in its events, educational activities, and all kinds of promotional materials such as posters, catalogs, brochures and so on, and publishing in the media.
- By applying, participants are deemed to have declared and undertaken that they accept the conditions for participation in the competition stated above.
